The food you consume serves two purposes because it provides energy to your body and it provides energy to your brain. Daily food choices determine our capacity to focus and our ability to understand information and our capability to handle emotions throughout the day. Students who consume nutritious meals throughout the day will experience improved ability to concentrate and remember information and sustain their emotional well-being throughout school hours.

The brain receives continuous energy from meals that combine complex carbohydrates with protein and healthy fat sources. Students can maintain their alertness and concentration during morning classes by consuming breakfast foods that include oatmeal with fruit and nuts and whole-grain toast with eggs and smoothies that contain yogurt and berries. The foods provide energy through a gradual process which maintains blood sugar levels and prevents fatigue and distraction from occurring. The brain requires protein-rich foods such as eggs and yogurt and beans and nuts to produce attention and memory supporting brain chemicals.

Lunch requires the same level of importance as snacks do. Students who consume a balanced lunch which includes a turkey sandwich on whole-grain bread with vegetables or a rice bowl containing beans and chicken and avocado will maintain their focus throughout the entire afternoon. Healthy snacks such as apple slices with peanut butter and yogurt and trail mix help students maintain their energy levels during class intervals while also enhancing their mood. The foods provide consistent energy throughout the day which enables learners to maintain their focus and motivation while studying.

Poor eating habits lead to negative impacts on both the process of learning and the management of emotions. The body will experience headaches and irritability and concentration problems when a person skips meals. The consumption of high-sugar foods which include candy and soda and pastries leads to sudden energy increases that result in exhaustion and loss of concentration. Students who select balanced meals together with nutritious snacks will enhance their brain health while improving their mood and building healthier relationships with others.
